#61837 - RE: 7-bit serial reception Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Sushil:
Serial transmission from the 7N1 mouse protocol will be problematic for the 8051 style UART to handle. Clearly @1200 baud a software UART would be relatively easy to code up but if you have any other essential interrupts going on at the same time the software UART is in action you could run into problems. On the other hand why don't you consider using a PS/2 mouse. These are actually more available today and are rather easy to connect to a microcontroller.... http://panda.cs.ndsu.nodak.edu/~achapwes...S2/ps2.htm ....and due to the CLK/DATA nature of the interface are simpler to bit bang with software than an async interface of a serial (RS232) mouse. An additional benefit it that the PS/2 mouse interfaces at 0 to 5Volts signals. Michael Karas |
