A graphic display indeed......but look at this idea that I have implemented for a client on a 2 row by 8 column character mode LCD module.
Here the special symbol facility of the HD44780 (or equivalent) LCD driver chip is used in a dynamac manner to display a battery meter that can show a bar graph type display for a total of 38 columns that increase from the right side of the display one pixel column at a time. This works by downloading only the soft symbols that are needed for the current display. You see the LCD controller supports 8 symbols at once and every possible combination of the battery meter takes more than 8 total symbols. Michael Karas |
