#63529 - Serial Com Data to PC |
Dear board members
I have designed a data logger with DS89C420 (and DS5000) and a 1GB Compact Flash Card (pure binary, no FAT table). Data is moved onto a PC by plugging the CFC into an ordinary card reader and data is read as an HD image to a new file. My next logger generation will be a solid device (epoxy probably) and it will therefore not be possible to access nor remove the CFC. Instead I plan to send the data over the serial port (which will take time, but never mind that). When transmitting so much data I would need a protocol. On the uC side I could write a simple (ASM) routine that sends a block of data, shake hands, sends next block, takes care of error conditions and so on until the end. But on the PC side I am running into problems. As an old line orientated Turbo-Pascal programmer it will take me months (years?) to acquire so much knowledge in VB or C that I can do anything useful. At last I am coming to my questions: Are there any software, port logger or terminal program with simple and documented file transfer protocol or simple (and reliable) script languish on the marked that can do the task? If not, which programmings languish do you recommend? Kind regards Niels U. Kristiansen Aarhus University Denmark |
