Hi,
I am using a thermal printer and a dot matrix printer both having the centronics parallel interface with my 8031 board. Both of them have been given the same data bus , /INIT,/STB,BUSY and ERROR signals. But only one printer of the above two has to be selected at a time.
I have used tow separate port lines for selecting SELCTIN pin of both the printers i.e. I am using SELCTIN signal as chip select of the two printers.
With this I think that whose so ever's SELCTIN pin is made low, only that printer will be selected. Am I right?
Is there any other way also of selecting only one printer but giving common data bus and other control signals?
