#65354 - Its a fair cop! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
"It is rather clear that Samer Sarhan was asking if the compiler outputs were in compatible formats."
Yes, I was just taking the 1st part of the question out of context: Samer Sarhan said:
Are the output hex files of the Dunfield and Keil compilers different? And yes, if a PROM burner accepts HEX files, it shouldn't care one bit about whatever tool might've generated the hex file. The only possible problems would be if the PROM burner has flawed or limited software that can't cope with a particular tool's HEX output; eg, 1. The Intel Hex format imposes no requirement for the records to be in any order at all, but we quite often see requests here from people with some tool or other that requires its HEX records in address order; 2. Some PROM burners have quite a limited maximum line length for the hex file - I have seen places where they had to post-process the HEX file to reduce the line length. Or was it S-Records - I forget now! |
