A LED is very simple - it's either ON or OFF; An LCD can be much more involved - you need to send strings of characters to make your messages, and drive control lines with the correct timings. Unless you particularly want to (have to?) play with LCDs, just using LEDs to illuminate "Walk" or "Don't Walk" signs would be far simpler! I'm running this in Dos Do you mean you're running your tools (assembler, etc) in DOS? You surely aren't running DOS on an 8051...?! |
