I am quite new to programming for the 8051 and I need some assistance.

I have a problem with a P89C51RD2BN. The problem is in downloading programs using the Philips flash magic software.

The problem is that I am able to download the software and run it once. When I try to download again again , the software hangs up. Subsequent attempts does not connect to the board. I have faced the same problem with 2 chips so far and I am unwilling to try the same again.

Could it be a hardware problem as the board is also new ? Are these chips backwards compatible with P89C51RD2HBP as the board I am using was designed for this chip , which is now unavailable.
