#68466 - Why so paranoid Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I had once to recover code for a company where the factory burned and no outside backup had been made - they do now!.
The company bought back units to copy and regenerate the source to make it possible to improve the products when requested. I disassembled the code and the disassembly, while it may have helped me with a detail or two, was definitely not worth to use as a base for restoring source code. This was originally written in assembler and, just for curiousitys sake I disassembled some C code and my reaction was "huh?". Again, access to hex code is worthless, umnless you are going to use it 'as is' or some security encryption is included. There is a danish proverb "thief thinks everyone steals" and I wonder. Erik |
