Hello there, my question is can I use the LCD code tutorial on my PC104 ?

Brief background :
I'm newbie when in comes to controls and hardware interfacing. I have an AIM104-386EX board (PC104, single board computer) and it has connector similar to the LCD, that is, D0 - D7, E, RW and RS. Also, the name of the connector is a 20-pin SVIF connector, what does SVIF means ? Thank you and hoping you would answer my questions.
