I'm using the uart of the Cygnal F005 to transfer data to a computer.

problem:
at the end of the transfer, the mcu sends a command to the PC to signify the end of the transfer (FT end of tranfer in french). Then the PC replies with an acknowledge (RD for ready). As soon as the mcu receives it, it quits the function. Just in case of errors, the PC is waiting for an acknowledgment.
my first thought to fix that problem is to have a timeout on the PC side so if nothing has been received after 1sec, the PC ends.

question:
Is there a way to do the exact same task, but without using a timout??
