I plan on using a 6MHz x-tal but what capacitors should I use?? I know for 12 MHz it is 22pf schoul I use these or other values??
Depends on actual quartz and actual micro. Have a look at according datasheets. By the way, 22pF is not standard value of most derivatives. It's 30pF. With typical 6MHz quartz I would choose 27pF...33pF NP0 type. Be sure that you only use NP0 ceramic type!! Connect ground leads of both capacitors directly (directly!) to ground pin of micro.
