The connections will be very much similar. Do note that you have to make sure that microcontroller software is able to deal properly with the longer write delays that an EEPROM has over an SRAM.

Some EEPROM devices have an extra strobe line or two that are used to perform bulk transfer from EEPROM to RAM on board the chip. (YOur device may or may not be like that).

Other EEPROM devices have some provision for reading out the write busy status. This may take some additional design consideration.
