The programmer I use is about the simplest you can get,I use a free program called Aec_isp available from
http://www.aec_electronics.co.nz/
if you follow the wiring diagram shown in the show diagram option from within the program then it works well,the only thing to remember is to turn off the program verify in set_up and make the programming/verification two seperate steps.
