Wireless communications is feasible with an 8052 processor via a serial port. There are ready made modules and/or chips that make it rather painless. If you were considering direct point-to-point RF transmissions you may want to look at this posting..

On the other hand if you are looking for wireless TCP/IP (i.e. 802.11b) type wireless then the job is a bit more complex. In this case it may be more appropriate for you to interface your micro to something like the Lantronix XPORT part and then in turn to an off-the-shelf wireless bridge device.
