#71700 - Winbond programming |
I have some Winbond samples I want to try out, but I don't have a programmer that supports them (only Atmel and Philips).
The datasheets do describe the programming, but the information is very incomplete - there's no timing information whatsoever for instance. But that didn't stop me... I tried adding Winbond support to my Atmel programmer, and it looks like it works. I found out the programming for the Winbond electrically eraseable EPROMs looked similar, so I used the timing information from those, the (incomplete) hardware information from the datasheets and added a bit of guesswork. So far I have tried programming a W77E58P, a W77LE58P and a W78E52BP. Erasing even seems to work at 12V, those sometimes two passes are needed - but I guess 14.5V is needed to make the erasure "perfect". The only part I'm missing is device ID - how are you supposed to read the ID bytes in Winbond chips? Does anybody have a datasheet/app. note with more complete programming information? I would prefer using facts rather than guesswork :) Best regards, Mikkel C. Simonsen PS: Sorry Erik - I know you don't like homemade programmers :) |
