for communication with PC you have to be in either MODE1 or MODE3(multiporcessor communication)

Mode 2 may be used as well if you have crystal with appropriate frequence installed. For example, with OSC=7.3728MHz it is possible to communicate with PC at 115200 baud (1/64).
