I was very lucky when 6-7 months ago I found one copy of the book you mention at amazon.de (the german version of amazon.com) at a normal price (don' remember exactly. something like 70$-80$). But there is an alternative: "Embedded C" by Michael J. Pont (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obid...&n=507846). From the same author: Patterns for Time-Triggered Embedded Systems: Building Reliable Applications with the 8051 Family of Microcontrollers (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obid...e&s=books). Many projects in C for the 8051 family in both of the books mentioned.

Another one is "Programming and Interfacing the 8051 Microcontroller in C and Assembly" by Sencer Yeralan & Helen Emery (http://www.rigelcorp.com/pi8051.htm)

Also do a search in the Google for "The Final Word on the 8051" by Matthew Chapman and download the pdf you 'll find.
