I would suggest that anything "thermal" is likely to have such a slow response time, because of the inertia of the system, that you don“t need to use high speed, handcrafted assembler code to get the performance you need. In my systems, I have moved the thermal servos to external loops handled by PC code rather than in the 8052 systems - sample rates are around 1 second.
