If anyone has more ideas for improvement in search process, please bring them up here. Search Titles/ search all(titles+content) Wildcards (ADuC8*) Phrase matching ("Analog Devices") Boolean ( (TI OR Texas) AND USB) Display a small part of post with matching words (search: RS232 "cross-over", post "does anyone know how to make RS232 cross-over cable?" not really useful...) Sort by score (Helpful/Good Answer on top.) "Only posts with links/images" checkbox. There also might be a way to force new users to search first: "Start New Subject" first asks the post subject, then performs search, and then displays post entry field below search results ("If none of the above answers your problem, type your question below") - users who are registered for some time or have a good karma may be freed from this. |
