#74336 - Meanwhile, back at the plot... Responding to: ???'s previous message |

I have even used the VBA functionality to access the data in a tabular section of the spread sheet and export it as a "source code" format include file to become an initializer in a C code file or an ASM data set. Which is why I brought this up in the first place, and was the subject of the Thread to which I referred! I think Excel is a great tool - I use it for everything from my accounts & taxes to decoding SS7, DDCMP, and other protocol frames, Keil mapfiles, and event trace files. I have an automatic timesheet that uses VBA and has a button to raise an invoice at the end of the month (or whatever). Only today I was using Excel to analyse som 'C' data structures. I have tried Ami-Pro and Quattro in the past, and they had similar facilities - but I don't know what (if any) comparable spreadsheet products are available on the market today. I'm sure MathCAD has the edge when you get into really serious engineering calculations, but I very seldom need that. |
