Are you ready for the Y2001 bug? (just kidding. Anyway, it's a bit too late to do anything about it!).

I just wanted to say that if we provide advice to beginners, it's fine, & we should be able to manage (like managers) all that (& not get too involved/do all the work). I like Jay's Darwin approach - that's how he's got where he is! We should always remind those asking for help that it's *they* have to hit "return", & if it doesn't work first time, to keep trying. They'll get the hang of it sooner or later. If it's too easy, it's no fun ! (no pain, no gain). But never be too proud to ask questions (even half-assed ones, Steve!). Recent personal experience : 10 days ago*, I started trying to recover data from the HD from an old XT that I had upgraded too quickly. I have succeeded, but after much sweat & tears, several hours surfing for information (there's a great XT club out there!), & finally following a colleague's suggestion & making a parallel transfer cable & using Norton. Kid's stuff? Maybe, but first time for me! The day I stop learning, I'll choose to stay in bed & fade away!
