If you type in three identical characters it sets bit 7 on the third character. If you keep on typing that same character every second one after that has the high bit set. I wasted a whole afternoon debugging perfectly good code because of that.
Hey, I just fell into that hole too! I guess it was a lapse in judgement that let me try HyperTerm again. Normally I use TeraTerm, but I had a new PC and didn' t want to bother installing TT for the short test I was doing. Anyway, I didn't want to drag up this old thread just for that, but also to point out that TeraTerm, which appears to let you use COM1 to COM4 only, has an INI file which will let you set the MAX port #. I've got a bunch of virtual serial ports (IR, USB) so I pushed mine up to 8. GB |
