One suggestion: Do not try to edit your explanation, start from scratch. 1) what are you designing (not 40*40 bits, but the "acme facilitator" that will do the following:) 2) where does the input come from and what is the electrical form 3) what is the output and where does it go 4) since you have 40 strings what select the string to use 5) which derivative will you use most important TAKE YOUR TIME, if you hurry explaining, no valid answers will be forthcoming, but if you take your time (be it a couple of hours) to fully explain what you are trying to do, you may get valid answers in just minutes.
