I've had a rechargeable soldering iron for a long time. It cost more than $10, but it's probably just as limited. Mine takes 2-3 seconds to warm up, and I'm not going to push my luck testing how long it takes to cool ;-) It really can't handle large connections or heavy wire (greater than about AWG 18).
As for AA batteries, I seldom use alkaline. With a smart charger and a dozen NiMH cells, goodbye Duracell. |
