#79746 - RE: How to print out register contents

I need to be able to print out Register 1 through 7...their contents.
How do I do that?

There are several ways to do that. If only two port pins are left free, then you could serially shift the registers' contents out of micro and shift them into a row of 8-bit shift registers, like 74HC164. You would need one line to emit the data bits and another line to emit the needed clock transitions. And you would need about 10 assembly code lines to accomplish this.
Outputs of 74HC164 can be connected to high efficiency LEDs, only needing about 1...2mA. Connect each output via 2k2 resistor to anode of LED, while cathodes are connected to ground.

Ok, this is a rather uncomfortable methode to have a look at your registers, but it's a very simple one.

If you can access to UART on the other hand, like Prahlad already mentioned, then a much more comfortable way to output your registers can be implemented, of course.
