#79868 - RE: S-52 Learning board for beginers.
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hello Prahlad,

Good effort which must be appreciated. However, I found the following

1) There is no "Bill of Materials" included.

2) The board does not have any LED which is usually a sign of life (as seen by a newbie). There should be a power LED and at least two LEDs driven by micro ports.

3) A simple mini DIP switch (2 way or 4 way) wouldn't increase cost too much and is easily available.

4) Instead of using 2 pin terminal block (screw type) for powering up the board, why not use a DC Jack which is normally found at the back of cordless phones and many other wall wart powered equipment. This will also enable the users to use any indoor AC adapter with sufficient voltage.

5) It was nice to see that you have used a bridge rectifier at the input, freeing the newbies from the hassle of polarity issues.

6) While designing the PCB, the traces could have been kept much more thicker enabling the PCB to be manufactured by screen printing. Personally when I design single side PCBs, I use at least 80mil pads (for ICs, resistors etc) and 60 mil traces.

7) Can't see any mounting holes on the board.

I hope you will take some time to improve the board.

Good work, keep up.
