hi,
in previous post I said "handshake". In fact, correct term I meant is the "syncronization". By the way, SPI is full duplex interface. For example you may implement next control feature: at time when master sends a byte, slave sends its number (0...0x0F) back. This allows master to detect than slave lost a byte as well.
