In case you can't locate the 44780 data sheet, here's a URL which gets you to Renasas site; unfortunately there is 'DISCONTINUED' on the background of the pages. I couldn't find again today how to get it from Hitachi directly (which I seem to recall doing). Memory slipped a cog, eh?
