By the way, I wish I can get such chips. They help in many situations indeed when speed is not critical.

In my opinion, the power of a project is mainly in its interfaces and not necessarely its MCU(s). But I like AT89C5x series because for years I used to work with it 'only' :))
I am now rather lazy to learn new MCU architectures, perhaps in my next life I'll :))
