i think the test gear to be desinged to simulate the actual situation where the end application is going to be installed.
there can be two catogories : Catogory 1 : General tests for any electronic system Catogory 2: Related to expected EMI, RFI problems specific to this application such as resistance welding system by Prahlad and http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=81607 by Raghunathan etc. BTW : does switching off a contactor generates radiated EMI ? sorry if the phrase "radiated EMI" is not correct.
