#82414 - No mistake Responding to: ???'s previous message |
SiLabs makes 8051 based microcontrollers that have a highly optimised core. The CPU therefore only needs 1 clockcycle for each machinecycle (compare to 12 on the 'standard' 8051. Most of these device have a maximum clcockfrequency of 25MHz, but there are some flavours which can run at up to 50 and even 100MHz.
Remember though that not every instruction takes only one cycle. In fact most instructions (50 out of 109) take 2 cycles to complete. So the true figure for 'MIPS' lies somewhere around 70 or so, which is still pretty impressive :o) More info can, of course, be found on SiLabs' website Regards, Rob. |
