I have been using the Radio Shack part
to send 1200 baud data between two
Dallas Semi 87C520's. The Radio Shack
IR module (276-137) output connects through an inverter gate and my
transmitter LED (276-143) is on (modulated @40Khz at 100ma)constantly
unless data is sent then it is off for
1's and modulated on for 0's.

I've been writing assembly programs
for the 8051 for 14 years and it does
take some getting used to. If you would
