#85053 - UTP or S/FTP cable
Hello.
This is out of 8051 topic, but i consider this group one of the most active, and i am a regular reader, that's why i will ask the question here.
This is the problem:
I want to build a LAN between 8 PC, and the most far PC's are at 180m. I will put a switch (store and forward switching mode) in the middle - so the longest individual cable will be 90meters. I am wondering what kind of cable to use. UTP or S/FTP? The cable goes from one building to another (at a distance of 30meters), with no significant transmiters of electromagnetic waves in the nearby. Will UTP be enough reliable? what about thunders? Using S/FTP will increase the price for 33%.
Any suggestions?
N-Joy,
Marjan
