From what is learned by the graphic that Payam Soltany posted it is best to also commit to practice the concept hard copper connections to the the bypass capacitor. With the switching speeds seen in modern surface mounted microcontrollers it is essential to NOT put via holes in series with the bypass path from the chip PWR pin to its companion GND pin. Here is a graphic that shows this concept.
