Thanh you Use loop back handshaking on the 9 pin connector that is connected to the Ucontroller do this.Pin 5 ground,connect pin4 to pin6,pin7 to pin8,pin2is txout and pin3 is rxin.With this u should be able to see the data in the hyper terminal of windows. check max232 datasheet for max232 connections.Do as they are given in the datasheet.
