#86841 - Sometimes weapons, sometimes patents Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Mahmood,
I would be careful about accepting the distributor's employee's word as gospel. Some things are prohibited for export because of potential dual-use applications. On the other hand, many things are prohibited from export, not by the governments involved, but by the manufacturer. Some manufacturers contracturally prohibit distributors from shipping their product to any country where the risk of patent or copyright infringement is not outweighed by the market demand for their product. I honestly don't know which is the case regarding your circumstance. It may very well be a U.S. prohibition for dual use concerns. But it may also just be the manufacturer worrying about reverse engineers and bootleg copies. Try some other sources. If it is only the latter, you may be able to find a source after all. |
