Take a look at the SiLabs C8051F124 for example. They have Timers which are similar to the standard 8051 Timer 2 that can be clocked from the SYSCLK, SYSCLK/2 and SYSCLK/12. (In the case of the SiLabs parts the SYSCLK is the same as Fosc because the parts are all 1X type parts). See the diagram below which shows a block diagram for the timer.
