Is this some sort of keeping the data from being visible to everyone maybe because some consumer company's wish so ? No, it is to keep from spending a lot of time answering questions from amateurs that buy one or two chips. Any amateur can use ISP which is supported with free software by most manufacturers (at least Philips and ATmel). Just look here and see how long the threads are when someone has tryed to build a programmer on the kitchen table. Any professional will have invested in a programmer built by a programmer manufacturer. Thus those that buy enough chips for the manufacturers to be interested do not need the programming information. Like it or not, that is rteality. Erik |
