#91381 - oh, there is a real difference
Responding to: ???'s previous message
The only real difference between a lot of these alleged OS's and what you and I do, is that the creators of these alleged OS's have published their ideas

Grant, you are wrong there. Here is what I could publish:
My OS is a round robin that sequentially execute all routines in the main loop, when it reaches the end, it start again from the top.
That is a "real difference" from "scheduling" "pre-emptive" etc.

We all come to 8051s with different backgrounds and experiences.
Absolutely. However there is a difference between "background" (knowledge to build on) and "baggage" (knowledge you are stuck with). For instance when I see a post about "function pointers on the '51" I cringe because it is the most inefficient thing you can think of on a '51. However those that come to the '51 with "baggage" routinely think of function pointers to be the cats miauw because they have used them extensively on the PC where they may, indeed, be appropiate. Likewise a lot of the RTOS stuff is simply a result of "thinking PC".
