True.

So the 1st thing you need to do is to identify what the 11 pins actually do!
Hopefully, you have some documentation with this keypad to tell you - otherwise you will have to spend some time with a test meter on its resistance setting...
(note that the rubber type keypads can have a relatively high 'on' resistance...)

Michael's diagram actually shows a 4x4 keypad, but you should easily be able to adapt it by just omitting 1 row or 1 column:
