it was based on a "Two Ronnies"[1] sketch from the seventies.
The sketch parodied a language class, in which the dialogue was subtitled with text such as: "L O, F U N E X?" for "Hello? Have you any eggs?" (to be read in a comedy fake-german accent). So, in this context, "F U" means "Have You" - and the true translation is, "Have you forgotten [that] we hate SMS here?" Andy Neil said: Yeah...
