maybe this depends from the device, which you want.

E.g. I use the AT89S8252-24JC and the AT89C4051-24PC in many projects and I reveived my devices always within 3 days.

I think, the AT89S53 was not so popular than the AT89S8252 and so it can be difficult to get the AT89S53.
