Its at 1000 degrees, and emitting rather a lot of its own....
I'd use a dual element pyrometer, if its sufficient to detect the arrival of the edge, and not its permanent presence. Failing that, how about watching the change in temperature from seeing the background of the furnace to seeing the temperature of the plate, which is presumably slightly cooler. Steve |
