The cause of problem ("nonlinearity" of inner/outer temperature ratio) might be uncontrolled cooling of the tube's surface. What about placing it inside some thermally insulating sleeve, at least around the measurement setup? Also, if you need fast response to temperature changes, you might have problems with the thermal inertia of the tube. Btw. the tube might be transparent enough for IR even if it's black, so the IR thermometer does not necessarily measure the surface temperature. Jan Waclawek |
