#96985 - Question - Absolute Max Ratings |
Hello all,
I have a quick question about the absolute max ratings specified on all data sheets. The statment "Exposure to Absolute Maximum Rating conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability" is common to all. My question is, What is this duration that they speak off. Is there a quantified value. My question stems from the fact that I am using an ADC with a absolute min reading on the analouge pin of -0.3V, but I expect anything from -0.6V to -1.1V at times. There are signal protecters out there that switches the signal off after a 10ns delay on the detection of fault conditions. Is the ADC safe if -0.6V to -1.1V is present on the input pin for 10ns? What in your opinion, is the maximum duration that can be tollereated. Thank you for your time. sun |
