But be sure you can only work with 50% on your software.
The other 50% of your time consumed by fighting against known and unknown AVR erratas :-(

At least I have done so until I give up and returned to the 8051.
Yes, the new DS89C420 has also many erratas, but they should be removed in July on the new revision.
In comparison, the errata of the old AT90S2313 (10/99) was still present and not announced to be corrected in future.
