Isolated 485 is quite expensive, check Maxim 1480. If you can go mainly unidirectional, there is a possibilitiy using I2C with optocouplers, it gets a bit complicated since the I2C bus is wired or. Other possibilities include six wires and a simple exclusive or at the receiving end.
