Probably "processor cycles", the duration of which depends on what -clocker you use (1-clocker = 1 clock period, 12-clocker = 12 clock periods). Another wrinkle on the same question ... what would "fast" mean for an algorithm whose speed depended on the input data?<p> Well, that depends. There are several criteria: 1. Maximum execution time (worst case) 2. Minimum execution time 3. Mean execution time (if "all" possible input data can be tested) 4. Execution time for most probable input data |
