the numbers i send if printed directly are negative.i use the following code:

byte[] readBuffer=new byte[20];
try
{
while(inputStream.available()>0)
{
int numBytes = inputStream.read(readBuffer);
byte a=(byte)inputStream.read();
System.out.println(a);
}
}

if i send data #065h from the 8051 the data that is printed is -65
if i send #066h the ans i get is -66 and so on;
why is it so?
