Whether the degree is called "BSc" or "BEng" or whatever seems to me to be entirely arbitrary at the whim of the particular university.
IIRC, Oxford & Cambridge (used to) call all their degress "BA" - including science and "engineering". Far more important than the actual letters is the institution that awarded it. And, as Steve said, the actual competence & capability of the candidate is the most important of all - especially after a few years' experience. The "requirement" for a degree is, IMO, just to enable uncritical automatic pre-filtering of candidates by "box-ticking" recruiters who don't really know anything about the actual job... |
